The Lucas Group is partnering with a leading high-volume national horticultural business to appoint a Pack Shed Manager to lead all post-harvest operations, delivering premium citrus to market on time and to spec. This is a mid-senior level operational role in the company’s largest region, offering the opportunity to drive a major pack shed expansion and long-term growth strategy.

About the Role
As Pack Shed Manager, you will oversee all operations – including receivals, grading, packing and dispatch – while leading a large workforce and embedding high standards in safety, quality and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Guide and mentor leadership and support teams
  • Work closely with the maintenance team
  • Ensure product quality is maintained and meets Freshcare/HARPS/HACCP standards
  • Oversee scheduling, workflow, and equipment maintenance
  • Short, medium, and long term labour planning and optimisation
  • Drive WHS best practice and a proactive safety culture
  • Collaborate with farming, logistics, compliance, and commercial teams
  • Support business growth and succession planning

What You’ll Bring
  • Proven operational and people leadership with a hands-on production floor presence
  • Strong coaching and workforce planning capability (PALM experience, advantageous)
  • QA/food safety experience and confidence with audits
  • Good computer literacy (MS Office, production/WMS/ERP systems)
  • Solid understanding of WHS and risk management
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and minor maintenance
  • Positive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
